China’s North Industries Corporation, commonly known as Norino, in cooperation with Pakistan, has become able to export its HJ-8 anti-tank missiles to 20 countries around the world, reported in Duowei News on October 21.
The report claimed that Pakistan has manufactured the HJ-8 licensing from China, which takes the country to develop an independent production line to produce the anti-tank missile.
It is also claimed in the report that in late 1980s, China persuaded Pakistan Army, which at that time was using the made in America BGM-71 TOW anti-tank missile, to purchase the Chinese-made HJ-8.
In the light of the report published in Duowei, Pakistan had performed tests pitting the HJ-8 against the TOW system to find out credibility of missiles suitable for ground force. The Hj-8 became top of the list by devastating all five targets with exact five launches, while the TOW could destroy only three, claimed the report.
Approximately, 10,000 HJ-8 missiles have since been exported to nearly 20 countries, which include Bangladesh, Bolivia, Egypt, Ecuador, Kenya, Malaysia, Morocco, Peru, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
The Duowei also said that since Islamabad opens up new overseas markets for China, it also builds trust with Beijing to have access to the further armament technology in the coming days.
