The Russian Defense Ministry denies the use of Iskander by Armenia

- Armenia has not used Iskander operational-tactical complexes in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Thursday.
"The Russian Defense Ministry got acquainted with bewilderment and surprise with the statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan that the Iskander missiles used in Nagorno-Karabakh by the Armenian armed forces" did not explode or exploded by only 10%, "the statement of the Defense Ministry said. "According to the objective and reliable information that we have, confirmed by the system of objective control, none of the missile systems of this type were used during the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh. All missile ammunition is in the warehouses of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia," the Defense Ministry said. RF.
The ministry noted that, apparently, Pashinyan was "misled, as a result of which he used inaccurate information."
Earlier on Thursday, the Armenian Defense Ministry reported on telephone conversations between the heads of the military departments of Armenia and Russia.
The situation in Armenia escalated sharply on Thursday after the main headquarters of the country's armed forces issued a statement demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pashinyan and the government.
This statement followed on Wednesday, when Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, at Pashinyan's suggestion, signed a decree dismissing Tiran Khachatrian from the post of First Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces. Earlier, Khachatryan questioned the Prime Minister's statements that during the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh "Iskander's missiles did not explode or only exploded by 10%."
The Iskander is a Russian-made operational-tactical missile system.
Armenia is Russia's ally in the CSTO. There is a Russian military base in the country.
As reported, Moscow provided Yerevan with a state loan for the purchase of Russian weapons and equipment. Armenia received an export version of the Russian Iskander-M tactical missile system.
Iskander-M was developed at the Kolomna Machine Building Design Bureau (High-Precision Complexes holding). In the version for the Russian army, the complex includes two types of missiles: ballistic and cruise. The range of the Iskander-M missiles was officially named - up to 500 km. It was reported that the missiles of the complex can carry a nuclear warhead. The complex is in service with the missile brigades of the RF Ground Forces.
