قال جيمس شيريدان مدير برنامج ايجيس للشركة ان شركة لوكهيد مارتن تعزز قدرة نظام ايجيس القتالي على القيام بعمليات الدفاع الصاروخى الباليستية بشكل افضل وتوفير الحماية ضد الطائرات بدون طيار.

"لوكهيد مارتن تعمل على انهاء اختبار إضافي كامل قريبا على أحدث إصدارات BMD من ايجيس"، كما قال شيريدان جين.

Lockheed Martin is bolstering its Aegis combat system’s ability to better perform ballistic missile defence (BMD) operations and provide protection against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), according to James Sheridan, Aegis programme director for the company.

Lockheed Martin is looking to complete additional testing soon on the latest BMD versions of Aegis, Sheridan told Jane’s .

The next BMD milestone for Aegis is the certification of BMD 5.1, part of the latest Aegis Baseline 9 configuration, Sheridan noted. “We’ve done a lot of at-sea testing,” he said. “We’re trying now to get to sea [for testing] with NIFC-CA [Naval Integrated Fire Control-Counter Air architecture].”
