كنا تابعنا في المواضيع السابقة بداية التجارب في مجال الطيران العمودي من سنة 1950 الى سنة 1970 بداية من سنة 1980 ادخلت تعديلات كثيرة على الطائرات التي تقلع بشكل عمودي خاصة في مجال التسليح في هذا الجزء ان شاء الله سنتطرق الى الجيل الثاني من الطائرات ذات الاقلاع العمودي .

HARRIER II
شملت التعديلات التي ادخلت على الجيل الثاني من الطائرات ذات الاقلاع العمودي نظم الافيونيكس من ذلك رادرات دوبلر و انظمة قيادة متطورة شملت كل من الطراز McDonnell Douglas AV-8B Harrier II و الطراز British Aerospace Harrier II المزودة بمحرك رولز رويس بغاسوس 11-21Mk.105/Mk.106 ثم في وقت لاحق بمحرك رولز رويس بغاسوس 11-61 Mk.107.
تم تشغيل الطائرة من قبل قوات المارينز الامريكية-البحرية الايطالية-البحرية الاسبانية-سلاح الجو الملكي و البحرية الملكية البريطانية.

السجل القتالي للطائرة هارير 2
شاركت طائرة الهارير في العديد من الحروب و المعارك منها حرب الخليج الاولى سنة 1990 و الحظر الجوي على العراق الى سنة 2003 ثم حرب الخليج الثانية 2003 ضمن قوات المارينز و سلاح الجو البريطاني.
الحظر الجوي على البوسنة و الهرسك 1993 مع ايطاليا و اسبانيا.
يوغوسلافيا/كوسوفو سنة 1999 مع مع قوات المارينز سلاح الجو البريطاني و اسبانيا.
افغانستان من 2001 الى 2014 مع قوات المارينز-سلاح الجو البريطاني و ايطاليا.
ليبيا سنة 2011 قوات المارينز و ايطاليا.
من سنة 2014 شاركت في بعض الضربات فوق العراق ضد تنظيم داعش.

تجارب الاتحاد السوفياتي.
تجارب الاتحاد السوفياتي مع طائرات الاقلاع العمودي من الجيل الثاني كانت مع الطائرة الياك 141 Yakovlev Yak-141 Freestyle تعرف كذلك بالياك 41 و هي طائرة متعددة المهام تم تطويرها لتعوض الطائرة الياك 38 Yak-38 Forger لم تدخل الخدمة و ذلك لعدم توفر الميزانية اللازمة لتشغيل و انهيار الاتحاد السوفياتي سنة 1991.
الياك 141 طائرة فوق صوتية بسرعة تفوق 1.4 ماخ و قد تم تصنيع نسختين فقط من الطائرة.

سنة 1991 دخلت شركة يوكوفليف في شراكة مع شركة لوكهيد للاستكمال البحوث حول الطائرة الياك 141 و تم عرض الطائرة في معرض Farnborough Airshow سنة 1992 ثم بيعت التصاميم لشركة لوكهيد لتظهر بذلك التحفة الاف 35.
