(Defensa.com) The US President, Barak Obama, and the United States Congress approved the transfer to Taiwan and Mexico 6 frigates Classe Oliver Hazard Perry (OHP) or FFG-7.On under the Act Transfer of Military Vessels, November 2013, Mexico Navy frigates receive "Curts" (FFG-38) and "McClusky" (FFG-41), and Taiwan Navy ships "Taylor" (FFG-50 ), "Gary" (FFG-51), "Carr" (FFG-52) and "Elrod" (FFG-55).
Units that are transferred are still in service in the Navy of the United States, "McClusky" received the now-defunct shipyard Todd Pacific Shipyards Corporation in 1983, the "Taylor" made by the shipyard Bath Iron Works (now General Dynamics Bath Iron Works) in 1984, "Gary" delivered by Pacific Shipyards Corporation in 1984, and the "Elro" received from Bath Iron Works in 1985. These 4 vessels will be retired from active duty in the US in 2015. "Curts "and" Carr "were decommissioned in 2013. In 2013 the proposals to transfer similar boats to Pakistan and Thailand apparently failed for political reasons.
