Saudi naval delegation pays first visit to South China Sea Fleet

ZHANJIANG, October 22 (ChinaMil) -- A 10-member delegation headed by Abdullah al-Sultan, commander of Saudi Arabia Navy, wrapped up its first three-day goodwill visit to the South China Sea Fleet of the PLA Navy on the afternoon of October 21, 2015.
Abdullah al-Sultan made an official visit to Shen Jinlong, deputy commander of the PLA Guangzhou Military Area Command (MAC) and commander of the South China Sea Fleet, on October 20, and they held warm and friendly talks on strengthening mutual trust and visit and enhancing military exchanges between the two countries.
Shen Jinlong noted that China and Saudi Arabia have had long-standing friendship, they have maintained sound coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs in recent years, and effectively protected their common interests.
Shen also expressed that the Chinese and Saudi militaries have had long-term and friendly mil-to-mil cooperation, and the two navies have had close exchanges, hoping to push the exchange and cooperation between the two navies in more extensive areas.
Abdullah al-Sultan said that the Saudi Navy is willing to maintain close communication with the Chinese Navy in personnel training and equipment/technology exchange.
It is learnt that Abdullah al-Sultan started his goodwill visit to China on October 15 when the Chinese PLA Navy Commander Wu Shengli held a welcome ceremony for him.
