Egypt getting C-130 ELINT capability

The US Department of Defence has contracted Sierra Nevada Corporation to supply an electronic intelligence (ELINT) capability to Egypt for the C-130 Hercules aircraft.
The contract was awarded on 10 January, according to the US Federal Business Opportunities (FBO) website, and is worth $727 277.
The contract award notice did not provide any further information. IHS Jane’s Defence Weekly notes that the Egyptian Air Force has 22 C-130H and three C-130H-30 Hercules in its fleet, which could be upgraded with an ELINT capability. The publication pointed out that in July 2003 the US Defense Security Co-operation Agency (DSCA) notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale of two Egyptian Air Force C-130Hs with roll on/roll off ELINT systems. That proposed deal was to be implemented by Lockheed Martin, the Mission Research Corporation, and Plano Microwave (which became part of Sierra Nevada Corporation)

On 17 July 2003, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of a possible Foreign Military Sale to Egypt of C130H Based Roll-on/Roll-off ELINT Systems as well as associated equipment and services. The total value, if all options are exercised, could be as high as $60 million.
The Government of Egypt has requested a possible sale of two C-130H-based roll-on/roll-off airborne Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) systems with the following major subsystems: two airborne signal detection and processing centers which can be mounted on C-130H aircraft ground analysis center ground mobile tactical center and base workshop repair station. This proposed sale will also include related modification kits, support/test equipment, spare/repair parts, publications, technical data, U.S. Government and contractor technical services, and other related elements of logistics support. The estimated cost is $60 million.
This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security of the United States by helping to improve the security of a friendly country which has been and continues to be an important force for political stability and economic progress in the Middle East.
The ELINT systems will be integrated on existing C-130H aircraft and will provide the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) an important ability to build, maintain, and update threat radar data. The EAF should have no problem operating and maintaining this retrofit capability.
The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not affect the basic military balance in the region.
The principal contractors will be: Lockheed Martin ISR Systems of Englewood, Colorado Plano Microwave Incorporated of Plano, Texas and Mission Research Corporation of Santa Barbara of California. There are no offset agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale.
This program will include semi-annual management reviews for one-week intervals with 10 U.S. Government and 10 contractor representatives. In addition, there will be 10 U.S. Government and 10 contractor representatives to participate in annual program management and technical reviews.
There will be no adverse impact on U.S. defense readiness as a result of this proposed sale.
This notice of a potential sale is required by law it does not mean that the sale has been concluded.

اسطول الحرب الالكترونية والانذار المبكر المصري "الاكبر حجما في المنطقة" يضم 18 طائرة وهم كالاتي:
8 طائرات اواكس E2 تم تطويرهم للمعيار Hawk eye 2000
2 طائرة حرب الكترونية EC-130H Compass call

هذا غير بودات التشويش التي نستخدمها منذ الثمانينات
وقمنا بدعم العراق في حربه مع ايران في الثمانينات بارسال سرب طائرات ميراج SDE 5 مصرية محملة ببود الحرب الالكترونية ALQ-234 ECM
والتي قامت بالتشويش بكفائة علي الفانتوم الايرانية ومنظومات الهوك
