As per sources, two fuel-drop tanks were dumped by a Jaguar fighter jet pilot in empty agricultural fields at Rolan village after one of the aircraft engines had developed a technical glitch after hitting a bird.
Village panch Ravinder Kumar witnessed some dropping from air early on Wednesday morning and the two objects fell just 50 feet away from his house on the outskirts of the village.
Sarpanch Davinder Singh said, "At around 4.45am I received a call from Ravinder, who told that two suspicious objects had fallen from a jet. I went to the spot and informed the police deployed at the checking post on election duty near our village about the incident. After some time Maheshnagar SHO inspector
"The visiting technical team of the IAF told us that a bird had collided mid-air with a Jaguar fighter jet due to which the plane got unbalanced and to maintain the balance of the jet at a high speed, the pilot had to detach the extra fuel tanks to reduce weight following which a safe landing was conducted at the
Maheshnagar SHO inspector Ajaib Singh said, "The incident happened at around 4.25am and we reached the spot at 5am. There were two fuel-drop tanks lying in the fields at Rolan village and the Air Force team was informed about the same following which IAF warrant officer Rajeev Tandon along with his team inspected the spot and the fuel-drop tanks were handed over to them. There has been no loss or any untoward incident."
As per the Air Force warrant officer, the two empty fuel-drop tanks were attached to Jaguar fighter jets and the pilot had to drop them to reduce the weight of the jet after some technical glitch in one of the engines.
