The Pentagon notified the U.S. Congress on his proposed sale to Egypt 25 Avenger air defense systems and components totaling 126 million dollars. According to Pentagon experts, the transaction will help Egypt overcome the dependence on obsolete Soviet air-defense systems and enhance its capabilities in cooperation with U.S. forces.
Supply systems Avenger to Egypt as a contractor is a company Boeing.
Under the agreement, the Pentagon also suggested Egypt 50 turbine engines for helicopters Chinook. The main contractor in this deal will make the company Honeywell International Inc.
According to the Pentagon, improving operational effectiveness of Egypt, which is seen as an important factor of political stability and prosperity in the Middle East, in the interest of U.S. national security
