Navantia presented on Wednesday a proposal to the Ministry of Defence of Algeria to build a minesweeper ship about 1,500 tons displacement. The ship offered a design based on the class minesweepers "Safe", of which 6 units built Navantia for the Spanish Navy from 1995 to 2004. The class minesweepers "Safe", whose mission is the detection and identification of mines and disabling, were once a very new, made of composite materials (polyester reinforced) that make the ship invulnerable to explosions, and magnetically . The hull is one piece and thanks to the elasticity of the material, not broken, but recovers its shape in case of explosion.

This offer is not the only Navantia is presented in the African country. In September 2010 there was another tender for the construction of three patrol similar to those currently under construction for the Navy of Venezuela, which is, at present, under evaluation.

ALGERIA ORDERS WILDCATS

Following its decision to order two large landing platform decks (LPDs) from Italy in October 2010, the Algerian navy is now set to become the first overseas customer for the AW 159 wildcat.

Algeria has been talking to the french naval defence company DCNS as well as the german thyssen krupp marine systems for the acquisitions of two LPD's for several years. However, Algeria instead opted for the ship builder's fincantierry a subsidary of the giant Finmeccanica aerospace co. The first LPD will be construted in Italy while the second will be built in Algeria although details of the planned delivery dates are sketchy right now.
The two vessels will fulfill a littoral warefare and force projection role and will be fitted with a powerful weapon system that will include the ASTER 15/30 air defence and EMPAR radar, provinding them with an anti-submarine warfare capability well beyond a normal LPD type.

This all comes as a further blow to the french gouvernment as eal to supply the algerian navy with up to 50 helicopters so far has seen AW Yeovil plant build six AW 101s and 4 lynx with two of the latter being delivered recently. It is believed that 12 construction jigs has already been set up at Yeovil,
as preparations go ahead to build the advanced Lynx Wildcat, already ordered by the army air corps and the royal navy for Algeria.
Although a firm contract has yet to be signed, it is a the final negociation stage and subject to it being finalised, deliveries are expected to commence in 2013.
It is possible that an airborne early warning derivative of the AW101 could be next on the Algerian navy shopping list.

ALGERIA – Corvette Program Preferred Supplier Still Being Considered

As of mid-July 2011, AMI continues to receive information concerning the Algerian Corvette Program. It appears that the program is again moving forward.
Algerian naval officials are again moving forward with procurement activities. AMI’s sources indicate that Algeria is now actively considering their design options although no firm date has been set for a preferred design or contractual decision.
Three design options that continue to be discussed in the international arena include the German MEKO, Russian Modified Steregushchiy (Tigr) and a Chinese frigate design (undetermined). Sources indicate that Algeria has all but eliminated the Chinese design as the Algerians have very little experience with the Chinese designs and logistics channels. Source also indicates that the German MEKO is spoken very highly of by Algerian officials indicating that this design may be preferred although a firm decision has yet to be made. The Algerians also apparently prefer the German integrated logistics and offset incentives. The third option being pushed by Russia is a Modified Steregushchiy (Tigr) class frigate. This option has been on the table since Russia responded to Algeria’s request for naval modernization assistance in 2005.
In the 2005 request, Russia offered two Steregushchiy corvettes, two Kilo class submarines, fifteen FAC and Zubr class air cushion vehicles (ACVs) to replace the Algerian National Navy’s (ANN) entire surface, subsurface and amphibious force in a single package. In addition, the two existing Kilos, three Koni corvettes and Nanuchka/Osa FAC force would be modernized.
To date, both new construction submarines have been delivered and the existing ship modernization programs are well underway at Russia’s Baltiysky Zavod Shipyard in St. Petersburg. The only major portion of Russia’s offer that has not been addressed is the two Steregushchiy corvettes. If Algeria chooses an alternative to the Russian corvettes, this will be its first major naval procurement outside the Russian supply chain in three decades.
Even though other interested suppliers such as BAE Systems, Fincantieri and DCNS are not being mentioned in the current context it does not necessarily mean that these designs have been eliminated from the competition. The only other option for Algeria was the three ex-Brunei class corvettes that are for sale on the used market. AMI’s source indicates that these have been ruled out. Every other option is probably still on the table. However, the German MEKO may be the favored choice at this moment. A decision on the preferred supplier could be made at any time.​

والله يا عصام المقال يتحدث على ان الجزائر ستكون اول زبون لمروحيات aw-159 كما كانت اول زبون لسفن الانزال الايطالية والتي يتوقع انها ستعمل على متن سفن الانزال الايطالية وربما قطع السطح القادمة من اياطاليا مستقبلا .....لكن الشيء المهم في الامر هو هنا

حيث يتحدث المقال صراحتا على ان الجزائر طلبت فعليا مروحيات الوايلدكات والتي شرع في بنائها تنفيذا للعقد الجزائري رغم ان صيغة العقد النهائية لم توقع بعد وهو في طور المفاوضات النهائية ومن المحتمل ان يتم البداء في توريد المروحيات للجزائر عام 2013 ......

الجزائر كانت لها مباحثات مع شركة DCNS الفرنسية و thyssen krupp الالمانية لاقتناء حاملتان للمروحيات و لكن الجزائر اختارت عرض شركة Finmeccanica الايطالية . حاملة المروحيات الاولى ستصنع في ايطايا و تانية في الجزائر
الحاملة ستكون مزودة دفاعات جوية من نوع ASTER 15/30 و ASTER 15/30 رادار و قدرات ضد الغواصات
