New contracts for delivery of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ 100) aircraft signed at MAKS-2015 international airshow are valued at more than $1 billion, Interfax reports with reference to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russian Federation Andrei Boginsky.
“A contract with Yamal Airlines alone is valued at $700 million. A total value of contracts for delivery of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 aircraft signed at the airshow is over $1 billion,” Boginsky said, answering a question about preliminary financial results of MAKS-2015.
According to him, representatives of Iran also showed interest in the aircraft at the airshow; the talks are in progress. Speaking of potential orders, Boginsky said that orders might be placed for “several tens” of SSJ100 liners. The Deputy Minister reminded that contract for deliveries of Sukhoi SuperJet 100 (SSJ 100) to China via a joint leasing company is being prepared. He thinks that about 100 jets of the type may be delivered to China.
Boginsky also noted that some Arab countries have also shown interest in the vehicle: in particular, in October 2015 Egypt is going to issue a tender for delivery of aircraft of this class, and Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company is going to participate in the tender. Besides Egypt, Jordan and United Arab Emirates are also interested in the jet. In general, Boginsky said that it is too early to discuss financial results of MAKS-2015 airshow. Talks are still in progress and the total value of signed contracts will be unveiled later.
