Saudi Radar Jammer ASTOR III SA
Originally a sweedish Jammer belonging to the company MyKonsult, PSATRI bought the rights of the Jammer and have made their own modifications on the Jammer which earned it the designation SA. The Jammer can be carried on virtually all Saudi Fighters and Reconnaissance planes, with the possibility of mounting it on further platforms in the future.
Astor III; ECM-, TES- and ESM system
ASTOR III meets different EW Training, Support- and Threat levels by being adjustable and responsive and fits situations from, basic to advanced EW Training to Tactical Support scenarios. Astor III can be based on Air, surface and ground installations.
System architecture:The Astor system generates coordinated coherent- and non-coherent jammingtechniques. The system has several parallel channels using different characteristics.
Capabilities and Features: • Basic to advanced jamming, of single/multiple radars.
• Mode editor and parameter setting with graphical visualization.
• DSOR/DRFM and PRI Predictor subsystems
• Frequency blanking
• Threat Emitter Simulation
• Logging with GPS-time and GPS-Map
• ESM in each band during jamming and TES.
Characteristics:Frequency coverage: C- J in sub-bands (optional K-band)
• Rx Sensitivity: – 65 dBm to - 70 dBm
• Instantaneous max. Bandwidths, SOR/DRFM: 2+ GHz.
• Dual DSOR/DRFM per band: 10 Bits FPGA based, PW 64-250 µs, Pipeline-,Stored Delay-, By-pass-, Head to tail repeat- and CW modes, main lobe prediction,Fq. blanking, Inverse gain and Look-over or Look-through functions.
• Jamming modes: Coherent- and Non-coherent Masking-, Deception- andSaturation techniques. Mode-shifting in time, Combined- and Synchronized modesand TES.
• Pulse-, Phase- and Amplitude Modulation
Adaptive Predictor
The PRI Predictor and Tracker provides improved performance.
• Records- and stores PRI during jamming
• Identifying e.g. fix, stagger and jitter PRI signals and adapts the behavior to theinput signal.
• PRI waterfall display and pulse analyzer display.
• Data base and Library function.
Threat Emitter Simulation, TES:The Astor can indefinitely reproduce a sequence of arbitrary Pulse DescriptionWords, each specifying:
• Time of Arrival
• Pulse Width
• Pulse Frequency
• Pulse Amplitude
Pulse width: 0.1 to 200 µs.
Intra pulse: Chirp, Phase coding
Arbitrary Scan Modes is simulated with the Technique Generator by reproducingdifferent scan patterns.
Antenna Selection and RWR scanner:By scanning all the Astor RX antennas a high sensivity Rx- indication and push-button display is provided for selecting the right antenna (-s) and RWR directionwith the same Rx sensivity as the Astor. Library can be implemented
• Frequency range: E.g. E/F - J band
• Azimuth coverage: As selected Astor antenna coverage Optional library function presented on HMI waterfall display
ASTOR COM JAMMER:Astor use both broadband and narrowband mode: The broadband is used for fastdetection of unwanted signals and to assign narrowband jamming. The assignedfrequency range to be used is fully configurable and the narrowband channel spacecan use selectable bandwidths e.g. 25 kHz or 12.5 kHz.
Channels can be selected or blocked for jamming.
• Housed in a regular Astor half 19” rack.
• Frequency coverage 30-520+ MHz with 100 or 200 W output.
• Operated from an Astor type HMI.
Now the rights of this EW Pod is completely owned by Saudi Arabia, and by Saudi Arabia companies.
