Prague, Aug. 13 (ČTK) — President Miloš Zeman said he had invited the president of Egypt, the president of the Kurdistan Regional Government and the king of Morocco to the Czech Republic, when interviewed by Czech Television today.
The conflict between Israel and Palestine will be resolved in the long run provided no Islamic extremism exists, Zeman said.
One can see an endless conflict in the case of the dispute between the Israelis and Palestinians, he added.
Zeman said there would be a short-term solution would if Hamas simply stopped firing rockets at Israel. "However, a long-term solution will really appear if what we call Islamic extremism ceases to exist," he added.
Zeman said he could see a difference between extremists and other people from the Islamic world.
He said he had invited Moroccan King Mohammed VI to a visit to the Czech Republic, but Egyptian President Abdelfattah el-Sisi only after he had sufficiently clamped down on the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood.
Zeman said he had also issued an invitation to Massoud Barzani, president of Iraqi Kurdistan, also known as the Kurdistan Regional Government.
In the past few days, the Czech Republic has been considering delivering arms to Iraq, which is fighting extremists from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
The shipment may be destined either for the central government of Iraq or Iraqi Kurds.
The Industry and Trade Ministry supports the deal. Industry and Trade Minister Jan Mládek told Czech Radio today he could not see any barriers blocking it. However, it is up to the Foreign Affairs Ministry to examine its foreign political impact, he added.
The granting of the export licenses should be resolved "in the days to come," Mládek said.
"Not only armored personnel carriers or firearms, but also L-159 training combat aircraft might be exported there," Mládek said.
However, there was also the aspect of payment, and any imminent changes in the Iraqi government should be taken into account, he added.
