Thales Defense and Security Inc has been awarded a USD11.7 million contract to provide air traffic control (ATC) equipment and services to the Saudi Arabia National Guard (SANG), the US Department of Defense (DoD) announced on 23 April.
The contract covers the provision of precision approach services, airspace control services, and navigational capabilities to support visual flight rules, special visual flight rules, and instrument flight rules operational and mission requirements within the terminal area for fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft.
According to the DoD notification, ATC equipment will be installed and services provided at Khashm al-An Airfield, east of Riyadh, and Dirab Airfield, southwest of Riyadh.
