طلبت القوات الجوية الملكية السعودية 193 محرك F110من شركة جنرال الكتريك
The Royal Saudi Air Force has placed a big order for 193 F110-GE-129E jet engines to power its 84 new F-15SA variant of the F-15E “Strike Eagle.” With the order, the RSAF will be the largest operator of the F110 engine except for the United States.
Saudi Arabia previously ordered 156 engines for its 71 F-15S strike fighters.
“We are thrilled to continue to support the Royal Saudi Air Force by providing engines to power its expanding F-15 fleet,” said Jean Lydon-Rodgers, vice president and general manager for Military Systems Operation at GE Aviation, in a statement. “The ongoing demand for our F110 engine is a testament to the value of its upgraded technology and will keep the production line open for years to come.”
The F110 is one of the most successful jet engines ever built. It has been used in the F-14 “Tomcat,” most export versions of the F-15E, the F-16 “Fighting Falcon,” and the Japanese Mitsubishi F-2 multirole fighter. More than 3,000 of the engines have been ordered worldwide since 1984.
