A US fighter jet has crashed into the sea off southern Japan, according to reports.
The F15 aircraft had taken off from the US's Air Force's Kadena Base and it crashed at around 6.40am on Monday local time.
Local outlet, Kyodo News, reports the pilot escaped the crash, but his condition is unknown.
