Arjun MBT to trial at Pokharan firing range
Arjun, India’s main battle tank is on trial and it started at Pokharan’s firing range. During its trial, it would be tested with its weaponry and safety systems. After the trial, DRDO will make some changes to the tank as per advice from the Military experts. The advanced version of the Arjun tank will most likely be inducted next year into the Indian Army.
Aside from the tank’s phenomenal launching capabilities for its missiles, the Arjun Mark 2 also has an explosive armor panels, enhanced auxiliary power unit, mine plough, advanced system for land navigation, auto target tracking, digital control harness as well as an advanced Cmdr panoramic sight and other features.
Over a year ago the upgraded version of this battle tank had been inducted to the Indian Army and 124 of such battle tanks are active now in the Indian Army. This battle tank had been in the works for the last 36 years and the DRDO experts say that they spend over RS 3.5 billion on its research and development. New regiments of this tank had already replaced T-55 regiments.
