سؤال جميل !!! قادة الجيش الروسي أعلنوا في أكثر من مناسبة أنهم غير متشجعين للدبابة الجديدة وأنهم يفضلون تطوير مخزونهم من السلسلة T والتي أعتادت عليها الأطقم الروسية وعلى برنامج صيانتها (بالفعل مشروع التطوير على وشك الإستكمال والدبابات بدأت تدخل مع الوحدات المدرعة الروسية) !!! أضف لذلك برنامج الدبابة متعثر رغم أن الدبابة ظهرت للعلن قبل عدة سنوات وحتى الآن لم يطلبها الجيش الروسي بصفة رسمية رغم أنه أجرى إختبارات ولكن لم يستكملها !!! المصنع يواجه مشاكل تمويل والدبابة ذاتها تواجه مشاكل فنية خصوصا في المحرك ونظام السيطرة على النيران !!! في المقابل، الأتراك والجيش التركي حريصون على إستكمال تطوير دبابتهم وهم يرون في أسواق الشرق الأوسط مكان مناسب للتسويق !!! هم يحتاجون للإكتفاء الذاتي وتجنب الإبتزاز الغربي لهم في كل منتج يضم تجهيز غربي !!! الأتراك ليس لديهم مشكلة تمويل ولا مشاكل فنية بإستثناء حاجتهم للمحرك وناقل الحركة !!! هم بالفعل حسموا أمرهم نحو تطوير دبابتهم الوطنية !!!
 
It is not enough for the Koreans to only develop the engine, they also need to develop the transmission and the cooling system. They still use RENK transmission on their tanks, which means they still need German permission for export. It is also worth remembering that developing a transmission is much more difficult than developing an engine.

For the Altay tank, I think Caterpillar Defense's new 1500hp engine and DB Santasalo TN54 transmission will be used until the BMC's powerpack is ready. Of course, if a major design change is required on the tank, SSB may choose to wait.
